The Importance of Vaccination in India
The pandemic started over a year ago, after these many long months of tragedy upon tragedy in
every possible sector from mental health to economy, and it is only recently that we are seeing the
light at the end of the tunnel.
From double masking to protesting that the pandemic isn't even real, we've seen it all, globally. As
always the world can't seem to agree upon anything, so now that the vaccine is out, now that we
have a solution, it was nothing short of predictable that the people of the world are in still in conflict
upon this matter.
The COVID-19 vaccine is completely safe and does nothing more and nothing less than training our
bodies to recognise and target the Corona Virus, and teaching it to produce antibodies to tackle the
disease. It essentially immunises you to the best possible extent from COVID-10; the higher the
number of vaccinated people, the closer we get to eliminating the virus entirely.
India faced the worst of the pandemic and yet when much of the Western world was well into its
national vaccination process, we hadn't even begun to consider starting ours despite large amounts
of vaccine production happening here. But things are starting to look better, India is vaccinating
itself. This was of utmost importance for several reasons.
1) The population density of India has proven to be a gift for the virus. With so many people in
crowded areas, the virus has been able to jump from one person to another with ease.
2) Millions of people in India don't have the privilege of being able to work from home or put their
jobs on hold as these people work off of their day to day income or get paid by the hour, if they cant
work they have no income. India's economy has been falling rapidly and these people are reaching
crippling financial positions.
3) The population getting vaccinated will not only help everyone be safe and start to get things back
to normal but it will also prevent the development of any new, more dangerous variants which
perhaps may not be affected by the current vaccines which would bring us all back to square one.
4) People are dying every minute, our hospitals don't have the scope to deal with the situation.
Vaccinations are our only hope.
India needs the vaccine. The vaccines are completely safe and free, and while accessibility can still be
an issue at times, if and when you are given the opportunity, you must vaccinate yourself.
